The phases of the moon and the sun have an influence on tides and, consequently, weather. Many farmers plant and harvest only when the phases are right, according to centuries-old tradition. Science has not been able to show whether there is any measure of truth in it or whether it is just pure superstition. Whatever, the psychological influence of a bright full moon is noteworthy (think of all the love songs with the word moon in them!) and some would say that it is not coincidence that the average woman's fertility cycle is the same length as the moon's cycle. In case you are wondering, like me, what the lunation number means, it is the number of lunar cycles ("lunations") since the first new moon in 1923!
Easter, in this table, is the Western church Easter and is calculated as the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. The Orthodox Easter is the first Sunday after Passover in the Julian Calendar and may be 0 to 4 weeks after the Western Easter.
